So What is VETiS?

‘VETiS’ stands for ‘Vocational Education & Training  in School’.

What is VET?

VET (Vocational Education and Training) in Australia, is a system for acquiring practical, work-specific skills and knowledge through courses offered by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), these include Government State-based entities i.e. TAFE institutes, and/or Privately owned RTOs, both of which help prepare individuals for employment or educational advancement.

VET Qualifications

VET qualifications are structured to recognise different levels of skill and knowledge that the specific industry requires, and include:

• Certificates I, II, III, or IV
• Diploma
• Advanced Diploma
• Vocational Degree
• Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas (these are higher than a Bachelor)

VETiS Programs

VETiS Programs include Certificate I though to a Diploma level, and are available for young people in senior secondary (High School – year 10 through to and including year 12).

These courses provide high school students with the opportunity to engage in education courses which can help lead to employment outcomes and/or further study opportunities  i.e. Credit towards a Higher Education Degree.

What do I receive if I successfully complete a VETiS Course?

On successful completion of a full VET course, students are issued a Nationally Recognised Qualification and its Statement of Results (a list of units that make up the qualification). If your course is a Skill Set or a partial completion of a full course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units successfully completed.

Both of these are recognised under the AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework).

Who can delivery VET programs

VET courses can only be delivered and assessed by Nationally Recognised Training Organisations (RTO), these include:

• schools that are RTOs
• other RTOs, such as TAFE, and Privately owned training providers like us (APITI RTO Num: 40029).

VET courses can be undertaken in Years 10, 11 and 12, and can help you gain credit towards your overall scaled marks, these can then be used for your ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) score once  you have completed year 12.
